About Me

My photo
Miles
I make small sculptures which I then make into Jewellry. So that I have more than one I make molds and then cast multiples. I enjoy the narrative element in the work, and the artistic combined with the functional. I use Super-Sculpey, a synthetic clay that is baked in the oven, then it can be carved. From these originals I make the rubber moulds and then cast with polyurethane resin, using a vacuum chamber to avoid air bubbles. After they are cleaned up by hand and then lacquered using an enamel paint made for use on glass. Swarofskis are set in for animal eyes and Buddhas' third eye. All the chain is steel, made in England, plated in black silver or gold, in gold there is an extra cost. I have had many careers and made all sorts of things using all materials, starting off with fine art at collage, and then into the film industry after leaving. My five year old daughter Nova is a great influence on my work, I am always making her stuff, and she wants many magical objects from ancient times and contemporary films, Although she rarely wears my pieces . . . . .
